The Daily Californian

Jan 2016 - Jan 2018

As the paper of record of the city of Berkeley, The Daily Californian is a fast-paced work environment centered on delivering content not only to the students of UC Berkeley but also to the residents of the city. However, half the battle is getting readers to engage with the content. Throughout the semesters I've worked at the Daily Cal, I've focused on the presentation of content from the layout of the paper to the promotional materials featured online. Below you can find some samples of my work for The Daily Californian ranging from web banners to branding guides.

Web and Mobile Banners

When The Daily Californian produces special issues such as the Holiday Buying Guide and the Study Abroad Issue, we need a way to distinguish this content from our regular material. The solution? Create eye-catching web and mobile banners that lead to unique pieces curated for each special issue.

Advertisement Flyers

The Daily Californian has been an independent paper since 1971 and therefore relies on advertising for most of its revenue. These flyers were sent to potential clients to showcase the advertising options in our paper and on our website.

"Below the Fold" Logo

As the world moves into a new digital age, journalism must follow. The Daily Californian is branching out by creating a podcast for student journalists to share their experiences and this requires a clean and simple logo that easily conveys to audiences the premise of the podcast.
